Gentle Reminders

When I teach mindfulness, my students often say, "I feel present and aware when I'm here with you, but it's easy to forget. I need daily reminders." A key element of mindfulness is remembering to remember: Taking pauses throughout the day to access breath and awareness, reconnecting with ourselves and our heart's intention.
Monthly Mindfulness
Each month, I write a mindfulness message that doesn't appear on my blog or Facebook. Though I'm enamored with postal mail, this note comes not via post but through email. I understand everyone's inbox is cluttered, but my intention for this message is spacious, meaningful, and heartfelt. It's both a deep breath and a warm hug, once a month.
Daily Texts
As a bonus for subscribing to Monthly Mindfulness, you can receive daily text messages: gentle reminders about presence and kindness. (Some examples: "Pause for 3 breaths. In this moment, there's no urgency. Pause and breathe," and "When you make space for yourself in your own heart, there's even more space for others. Try to be kind to yourself today.") I create the messages, but they're sent through Remind.com, a free resource for teachers. The texts arrive daily, at different times. They help us remember to remember.
